In intensive aquaculture, oxygen is the most important factor for stable and healthy water. Especially in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), large amounts of oxygen are used because many fish live in relatively little water. Due to feed residues, ammonia, and contamination, oxygen levels continuously decline, requiring farmers to make frequent adjustments.
The Pro-Vida Nanogenerator helps introduce oxygen into the water more efficiently and keep it available for longer. This ensures more stable oxygen values, fewer fluctuations, and a more consistent environment for the fish.
More efficient oxygen addition in RAS systems
In RAS installations, oxygen management is often one of the largest cost components. Traditional aeration methods lose a large part of the added oxygen because it rises to the surface and escapes. Nanobubbles behave differently: they are extremely small, remain suspended longer, and dissolve gradually.
This means that:
- oxygen remains available for longer
- fluctuations in dissolved oxygen decrease
- less adjustment is required
The aquaculture industry already adds substantial amounts of oxygen; nanobubbles make this process more efficient. As a result, our generators are used not only in fish farming but also in greenhouse horticulture and the food industry.
More stable water quality and less stress in fish
While traditional aeration regularly causes peaks and dips, nanobubbles can help maintain much more consistent DO values. A stable oxygen level reduces stress for fish, supports growth, and makes the production process more predictable. Farmers with crowded tanks, high feed rates, or easily contaminated water, in particular, benefit from less fluctuating water quality that is therefore easier to manage. This makes adding oxygen to water a good idea.
Development of larger units for the Aquaculture sector
Larger installations require larger nanobubble generators. We are currently developing systems suitable for farms with high water flows or multiple recirculation lines. We are also starting tests to compare existing oxygen consumption with a nanobubble-based system. This will allow us to determine more accurately how much oxygen a farmer can save in the future.
Market interest is high, and we are working with farmers to determine which configurations best match their water flows and oxygen needs.
